This is a fantasy-steampunk novella with an interesting take on shapeshifting, and the author does a good job bringing that take out in world-building. The characters are solid and likeable and the theme of nonviolent solutions has merit. But the plot never came together for me, as I was expecting more of a typical action story, rather than a discussion of politics. The disconnect didn't stop me from looking to see if the author had more books available set in this world. (Couldn't find any. Feel free to give me links if I missed them.) We'll call this 3.5 stars.Product details

This is a good, short read. The world of Tyne and Kara could be developed into a full-length novel but this is a complete tale.
